I Love Animals 2019
44x32 | Oil Stick
5x7 | Copper Etching, Letterpress
Using a combination of photographic copper etching and letterpress, I tell a story about an experience with a calf I had at my family farm.
22x30 | Oil Stick
2018. This piece, made with oil sticks, imagines the parts of the life of a steer who was raised to be killed for meat, calling attention to a cognitive dissonance that make most in society uncomfortable.
22x30 | Mixed Media
Participation in a rural 4-H "Beef Club" played a big part in my thinking that, although I loved cattle and always saw them as individuals who deserve their own life, it was okay to take that away from them.
For 5 years, I would get to know a steer for almost 6 months, loving them as if they were my pet, before being required to sell them to the highest bidder and sign off on their slaughter. Imagine if you did this with dogs?
22x30 | Oil Stick, Oil Pastel
2018. One of my first works about animal agriculture.
